      Bequests

Alice Challen, M.D. is an extraordinary person who continues to have an influence on one of our most important community assets, Alameda Hospital.

Dr. Challen came to Alameda in 1944 and joined the well-established family practice of Dr. Alice Burke. As she likes to say, "We took care of the whole family, the newborn, the parents and the grandparents who were at the end of their lives."

Over the years Dr. Challen has affected many lives in our community through her generosity. When the Alameda Hospital Foundation established the Dr. Douglas D. and Regina K. Stafford Society, Dr. Challen came forward to say, "I have put Alameda Hospital Foundation as a beneficiary in my will, and I hope all of my friends have done the same." The Stafford Society is a program to recognize individuals who have shown extraordinary generosity by naming the Foundation as a beneficiary in a bequest.

Bequests come in all sizes and many people consider a bequest the perfect way to make a gift. The language below shows how a bequest can very easily be included in your will.

You might find it helpful to select the "print" button on the top of your screen and print this page. You may feel free to give this page to your attorney. If he or she has any questions, please have them contact Dennis Eloe at phone number 510-814-4600 or e-mail me at deloe@alamedahospital.org.

Example bequest language - Please feel free to change the numbers or percentages as you desire.
